Drinking water treatment is essential for the population. One of the biggest problems are chlorine resistant bacteria such as Cryptosporidim and Giardia that cannot be eliminated by chlorine, the historic disinfectant used worldwide.
It is in this context that the use of UV systems becomes critical. Indeed, small, and large aqueducts are installing UV systems in aid or as an alternative to disinfection by chemical.
To verify the effectiveness of a UV unit there are three possible certifications: DWGV , ONORM or USEPA. Through biodosimetric testing these systems are in fact tested under different operating conditions
SITA's IT series is designed specifically for drinking water and certified O-NORM 5873-1.
Other important certifications such as WRAS and ACS make SITA UV units suitable for water intended for human consumption. The range of flow rates treated is very high and starts from 1 m3/h up to more than 1000.
