One of the biggest problem of the fish farms is the risk of diseases in big stock densities. In some case, pathogens can create enormous problems which can cause the complete shutdown of a facility with consequent great loss of money.
The Ultraviolet disinfection systems is the easiest treatment to protect fish farms from the disease risk, targeted pathogen can be effectively eradicated or controlled. UV rays don’t produce any harmful effects in fact they don’t change the physical characteristics of the treated water and don’t create any by-products like some other chemicals product do.

The most common organism that are responsible for the fish disease are:

  • Viral haemorrhagic septicaemia (VHS) 
  • Saprolegenia (fungal disease)
  • Saprolegenia (fungal disease)
  • Coliform bacteria Faecal streptococci
  • Infectious Salmon Anaemia (ISA)
  • Infectious pancreatic necrosis (IPN)
  • Ichtyophthirius (white spot disease)

The number of bacteria can be significantly reduced having the water to pass through a SITA UV system. A correct sizing of the UV system based on few information (Water Transmittance, Flow Rate Water Analysis) canbring to a LOG4 reduction ( 99,99%).
Both fresh or sea water can be treated from SITA UV. Maintenance of SITA UV systems is very easy and time saving, lamps change and quartz cleaning are the only operation required.
Manual or automatic cleaning system can be added to SITA UV System, with this systems You can clean the quartz sleeves in a very short time. For sea water application we are using our HDPE series (high density polyethylene UV chambers).
